Sydney chicken supplier goes into voluntary administration

  • Red Lea Chickens was placed into voluntary administration last week

  • Workers learned their fate at a meeting held by administrators on Tuesday 

Hundreds of workers are set to lose their jobs as one of Australia’s biggest chicken suppliers goes into voluntary administration.  

Red Lea Chickens said it has ‘no alternative’ but to wind down operations after it was placed into voluntary administration last week.   

A meeting was reportedly held by administrators at its processing plant in Blacktown, in Sydney’s west, on Tuesday, where hundreds of employees learned their fate.
